Must-Read Books That I Cannot Stop Talking About
This post about must-read books contains Amazon Affiliate Links. This means that I receive a small commission on sales that result from this post. Read on, my friends!
Have you ever read a book that was so good that you find yourself talking about it months or years after you put that book down? I have several of those books in my life, and now, I am sharing that list with you. These books captivated me from the start, and I find that many other people have read them as well (it is fun to discuss our takeaways when I meet these like-minded folks).
I do not get to read as much as I want to, but I recently started to use Audible Audiobooks on Amazon. Have you heard of this service? They read the books to you. I repeat, they read the books to you! This is so very helpful to people like myself who can't always find the time to sit down to read a book. I can listen to books while folding laundry or doing other activities around the house. It's pretty much AWESOME!
Are you already an Amazon Prime member? Well then, you get Audible Audiobooks already, since it's included in your membership! How fun is that?!
Now, onto my favorite books:
These moms tell it how it is. They do not hold back on anything, and that is all part of the awesomeness of this quick read that every Mom MUST pick up. This genius book is written by four moms who start each chapter with a different scenario and then they talk about the hilarious way in which they got through the tough moment. It's absolutely hilarious, and when finished you will know you are not alone in this world of mom-ing.
This book was revolutionary for me. The number one word that comes to my mind when I think of this book is INSPIRING! I talk about this book all the time, and I have gotten so many friends and family to read it, and then to join in the fun of purging their belongings afterward with me. It's the best feeling ever to lighten your load and to only keep things that "spark joy" in your life. Once I put this book down, I felt like I was a new person. It completely reset the way I thought about the material things in my life.
This is the sequel to The Life-Changing Magic Of Tidying Up. This is also the first Audiobook that I tried, and I loved it! This book goes into detail about the meaning of how to decide what "Sparks Joy" in your life. Once again, I felt inspired to clean, organize, and to live the minimalistic lifestyle that I crave so much in life.
The Handmaid's Tale
There is a good reason as to why this Hulu original series and Elisabeth Moss have been raking in the awards for this show, which is based on this book.
Step one: Read The Handmaid's Tale. Step two: Watch Hulu series. Step three: Be changed forever. This book will blow your mind and make you think "Well, that will never happen....Or can it?" It's so juicy and good, and it is best to read the book and watch the show to get the full Handmaid experience. Praised Be.
Contagious: Why Things Catch On
This book takes a fascinating, in-depth look at why people share things they see. Social currency, anyone?! It goes into great detail about why someone would go out of their way to tell a friend about something interesting to them. This will make you think more in-depth about the power of "word of mouth", or another powerful way we share in today's day, which is often via social media. This has helped to inspire many changes in the way I write and blog. This book is hands-down fab!
Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead
OH. MY. GAWD this book is insightful. I always become disappointed when those in management or the workplace have not read this book. This is also a book for those who work in the home. This book is for EVERYONE. Men and women. Sheryl Sandberg examines why there is a lack of female leadership at the top of large organizations, and she tell us how we can all work together to even things out. Division of responsibilities in the home is where it starts. I read this book a few years ago but her words remain as powerful as ever in my mind as I go throughout life.
There you have it! A list of must-read books that will have you thinking about their messages long after you put them down. Do you have a book suggestion for me that you know I will love? If so, comment below! Thank you!
