How To Reduce Waste In Your Kitchen
If you are like me, going green is a dream. I am constantly coming up with new ways to reduce waste. I am green at heart. While I am still a consumer and still create waste, I am very conscious about each and every item of waste that I produce.
I am that person who gets every single drop out of a pouch of baby food or a bottle of face lotion. I will go to great length to extract toothpaste from a tube. I tear paper towels and dryer sheets in half, and reuse every ziplock plastic bag at least once. I reused swiffer cloths by vacuuming them off after each use. I will got to the max to save and reuse products designed for single use.
I recently adopted several products in my life in order to help combat my consumer tendencies. Here are some of those products that have helped us to reduce waste in my kitchen and home.
These reusable cleaning cloths are fabulous! They hold so much liquid. I will typically use one for the day, then toss it in the laundry basket. They wash up in the washer and then they are good to go for another round of use!
These reusable foods wraps are magic - they form nicely to the food product that you are looking to wrap. The clean up nicely, and are a favorite of mine for plastic wrap replacement. When finished, you can wash them with cold water and soap, and the use again. Each sheet can be used about 150 times. When you are finished with them, they biodegrade. I especially love these wraps for my son’s lunches.
