How To Bounce Back After Having Two Children
How Fit4Mom Helped Me To Press Refresh
The following post is sponsored by Fit4Mom. This is my experience being a part of this amazing village and going through their amazing eight-week Body Back program.
In December of 2017, we welcomed our second-born into the world. At the time, we were living at home with my parents while construction was underway at our house. Needless to say, things were chaotic! We ended up moving into our house in May. I promised myself that as soon as we were moved out of my parents basement, and into our own space, that I would get back into a routine of healthy eating and would start to work to drop the last 10 pounds of pregnancy weight.
Once we moved in, I found it difficult to get back in my groove. I did not take any time off of work to move, and I felt like I has so much to do and organize in order to get the house close to where I wanted it to be. I only had the evening hours available, and in order to make time to organize, I sacrificed cooking and working out.
I have been taking fitness classes with my local Fit4Mom group for a few years now. Lesley is the owner and her team of fitness instructors are some of the most supportive women who I have ever met.
Fit4Mom has a program called Body Back that is life-changing. I completed a Body Back session two years ago after I had my son. I have a recap of those results here, but during this session I lost five pounds, gained abs, and learned many new recipes to prepare for my family. Body Back also helped me to get into a routine that included regular workouts.
When I say “bounce back”, I am not just referring to getting into shape. Having a baby is very “disruptive” (in many wonderful ways, but also in challenging ways as well). Once your new baby arrives, a new routine sets in, and it is difficult to break from that routine. My new routine did not include preparing regular healthy meals at home or weekly workouts. I knew I needed Body Back again to help reset my mind.
Body Back is a program that involves having a Fit4Mom instructor lead a small group of women (less than 20, our session had 14 women) towards their fitness and health goals. The program includes a comprehensive meal plan (loaded with numerous healthy meal options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner), a private Facebook group for those in the session, before and after analytics and photos, two intense HIIT workouts per week, and infinite amounts of support.
Our instructor for this eight-week session was the fabulous Martha. She helped us to set out goals at the beginning of our session. My goals included preparing 75% of my family’s meals at home, shaving one minute of time off of my one mile run, and losing 10 pounds.
After two weeks of eating healthy meals at home from the Body Back meal plan, I had already lost 5 pounds. Eating at home, along with more frequent workouts, made me feel instantaneously better and healthier. I knew that I was getting close to my goals.
I started to make running a priority. I ran more frequently in the eight-week Body Back session than I had in the past two years. And it felt great! I forgot how wonderful exercise is for the soul and body. And the meals that I was preparing for myself and my family only became better and better. It became easier to meal prep week after week using the meal planning tools provided to us by Martha. Martha was there to support us through the entire Body Back journey, helping to keep us accountable as we worked through the eight-week program.
Weight loss and measurements are not the only analytical tools in the Body Back program used to measure progress. “Assessments” are conducted at the start of the program, and then again at the end. You can see below how I had improved over the eight-week session. I was so close to meeting my goal of running the mile one minute faster than at the start of the program! Everything improved, my bicep curls, push-ups, plank times, and squat reps. I was very pleased with my end results.
By the time our eight-week session had wrapped, I had lost a total of nine pounds and 8.25 inches. I had worked so hard for this, and my efforts had paid off.

After Body Back, my clothing fit so much better than it did before. I had to purchase pants one size down for work - which is one of the best reasons to have to spend money (in my opinion!)
Going From Size 4 to Size 2 With Body Back
Body Back provided me with all of the tools necessary to continue with my healthy new habits post-Body Back. I printed out the meal plan and placed a copy in a easy-to-access binder. I regularly pull recipes from it for dinner. I have trained myself to make time for workouts for myself. Healthy mom, healthy family!
The conclusion of Body Back came during Halloween. I have been wanting to do this “Super Bowl Lady Gaga and Her Little Monsters” costume for a while now. Thanks Body Back!
Fit4Mom has so much more than the Body Back program. They also offer the following classes:
Each Village has it own unique offerings such as monthly Moms Night Out, Expecting Moms Night Out, and Family Events. I highly recommending checking out a free class and discovering for yourself how Strength in Motherhood can fuel the soul!
