I've had some pretty great Halloween costumes for myself over the years. Most of the time, I have made my own. As a new(er) parent, I have set out to do the same for my son, but needless to say, life has gotten the best of me and I often end up with a store-bought costume for him (sigh). I will forever envy the moms who can throw together epic sibling costume collaborations or mommy and me costumes. I KNOW I will be able to execute and deliver at some point in my life! #momgoals
My favorite pre-baby costumes have been Katy Perry from the California Gurls video and then Christina Aguleria from the Dirrty video (it was college, okay?!!). These were labor intensive costumes that required thought, sourcing materials, crafting, and sewing. I don't know where I had the energy!
The hubs and I were even able to execute a couple costume once! In 16 years, it's amazing that we have only been able to do this one time....
But now, it's all about the baby! Our son was only two months old during his first Halloween. He went as a monkey, and our pup made an appearance as his banana! We have tried to dress up our dog in the past, but unfortunately, she is too big for most of the costumes out there. She is very deep-chested and even the XL's out there can never velcro shut. Just another mommy fail, since I could have been making her costumes as well over the years!
Last year, our son was a cuddly little lion. He was walking at this point which made him even cuter!
I attempted to match him with my bears hood. Getting better, but not quite there with my Halloween aspirations!
This year, baby dinosaur in the house!! This one will surely keep him warm as we set out to try trick-or-treating at a few neighborhood house this year. Next year, I have big costume goals. I am saying it now, to hold myself accountable, but there will definitely be a sibling costume collaboration going on over in our house!
