When we set out to build our home, we knew that we didn’t want a traditional living room or dining room on our first floor. Instead, we wanted one of the two front rooms of our house to be a playroom. I didn’t want to rush into designing our playroom, so for eight months, this is exactly what our our space looked like - how lackluster!:

To say this look and method of organization drove me nuts would be an understatement. However, I was committed to only bringing things into my home that “Sparked Joy” (hello KonMari!), and that included all home decor and furnishings. As a result, our playroom (and several other rooms) were empty for months.

Finding those finishing touches that “Spark Joy” takes time. I am glad that I was patient in my search for the best products for our home - products that are both functional and complementary to the look and feel of our home’s aesthetic. When I found Little Nomad play mats, I knew they were exactly what our playroom space was craving.

I was drawn to puzzle play mats initially when I saw the Little Nomad, now House of NOA, on Shark Tank years ago. I LOVED the look and style of their mats. Functional and beautiful - what more could a mom want?! And so easy to put together, even a baby could do it (with some help from mom, of course!)

In addition to a Little Nomad play mat, we now finally have storage! I love cube storage - it is perfect for all the miscellaneous toys that families accumulate. Hanging on our playroom wall, I have our Gobs of Jobs chart for our son and some simple art to brighten up the room.

The play mats come in all sizes and patterns. There have been some good dupes that have come our as well, such as this one on Amazon:

These soft foam mats are excellent choices as well for your playroom:

One of my favorite things about this play mat is how easy it is to clean. Our dog is constantly getting muddy paws. When our toddler let her inside the other day (and of course, didn’t wipe her paws), she made dog tracks all over our play mat. With a wash cloth and warm water, the muddy prints wiped up with ease.

I recommend puzzle mats - seven years later and we still have our puzzle mat set up in our play room. The design works for the space. It’s functional and stylish.

Should you get a puzzle mat? Yes, of course! Here are several options available today:

Here is one with the cutest polkadot pattern:

Now that our playroom is just the way I want it, we spend an abundance of time in this space. It’s so wonderful to plop down on our soft puzzle play mat and play toys with the kids. I’ve never spent more time on the floor than I have since having children, and I love having a Little Nomad mat to support all of our play sessions.

You can shop their entire line of products here. Our Boho Dream Little Nomad mat has completely transformed our playroom, and it will do the same for yours!
