How To Create And Rock A Comfortable And Stylish Maternity Wardrobe

Maternity Wear and Pregnancy Style Tips

The below post about my favorite maternity styles and maternity wear contains affiliate links, which means that I receive a small percentage of sales that results from this post, at no cost to you! Read on, fellow moms-to-be!

Now that I am well into my second pregnancy, I have a few more tricks and tips up my sleeve for creating and effortless maternity wardrobe that can take you from pre to postpartum. I am a huge fan of collecting pieces that can be worn both pregnant and not-pregnant - this is the best way to make the money that you spend go as far as possible. I have also found many existing pieces within my wardrobe that work during pregnancy by a simple modification or two!

Let's start with those earlier pregnancy weeks. During about week 1-18ish, I was able to come up with many outfits that fit my growing belly using existing wardrobe pieces. This below look uses a Max Studio skirt and a top from Express. The skirt typically sits below my waist, but for this look, I pulled it up high and then knotted the express shirt to sit over it. Easy peasy "maternity wear" without spending a dime!

How To Turn Regular Clothes Into Maternity Wear

One present that I purchased for myself was this Island Time Asymmetrical One Piece by Free People. I was early on in my pregnancy and wanted something pretty to wear for Mother's Day. I had already announced that I was pregnant by this time to my family - it was the perfect outfit to feel beautifully 12-weeks pregnant in.

The below Maven Crew Dress is a piece from Matron Saint that I absolutely love. It has such an amazing fit and hugged my 20-week pregnant shape in all the right places. This dress can easily be taken from day to night. It hits mid-calf and has the ribbed sides that I love. The material feels buttery smooth and allows the dress to flatter from all angles. This dress is meant to be worn throughout your pregnancy and postpartum as well. I have found several different occasions that I have been able to wear this dress for, and I'm only at week 25.

During my first pregnancy with my son, I had two occasions where I needed something extra special to wear. During both my shower and maternity shoot with my husband, I chose pieces that were not technically maternity wear. For my shower, I wore a pale blue skit (since I was having a boy!) that I picked up from H&M. I paired it with a crop top from Aritzia. I'm a huge fan of crop tops with skirts pulled up high as maternity wear.

I took the same blue skirt and wore it with a different top for my maternity shoot at 36 weeks. I was much bigger at this time and very swollen during this shoot. But the skirt worked perfectly. I also wore this skirt to a wedding at 38 weeks and then continues to wear it after my pregnancy.

At 25 weeks, I am all belly and more. I love the look and feel of drapey sweaters and off-the-shoulder tops. They accentuate the bump in all the right places. And this below outfit goes great with my all-time-favorite Diaper Bag by Lily Jade. The leggings are another fave from Matron Saint. I have many pairs of maternity leggings but these ones are my go-to pair. They are SO soft and so very comfortable. For me, they are the best pregnancy and maternity leggings out there. This is another item that can be worn after pregnancy as well.

A favorite tee of mine is PRODUCE Tees, which allow you to celebrate three different pregnancy milestones. I raved about these in my Mother's Day Gift Giving Guide because they are so fun and wonderful for pregnancy. They are long and soft - exactly what I crave when I am running errands and am out and about.

For maternity and nursing dresses, I found this fab line called Mayarya. This dress has severed me well - most recently at a friends baby shower! The length is very flattering - short and cute! It worked so well with my Michael Kors Watermelon Wedges, which add a pop of color that makes this outfit one of my faves.
