My husband and I started our basement renovation project in February of 2020. It’s now July 2021, and it is now finished. We did the entire basement refinish ourselves. He did 95% of the work, and I took on about 5% - mostly the design and furnishing pieces.
When we were building our house, in order to save money, we left the basement unfinished. We always knew we’d finish it off slowing on our own time. As you can see, the basement started down to the studs.
It took about eight months to complete the dry wall and taping activities. I knew we were getting close to it being go-time for my part - the designing and decorating phase! I already had my eye on some Zia Tile and Anthropologie wallpaper that I knew would make the downstair space pop until some of the other rooms in our house.
The very first thing I picked out for our bathroom was the Zia Tile Cement tile in the design you see below. I absolutely loved the boldness that this tile brought to the table. There we’re several different ways we could configure the tile, but we went with the starburst tile design.
I love working with pre-pasted wallpaper from Anthropologie. I scooped up the Thin Air design from Anthropologie and put it up with ease. This was not my first wallpaper rodeo - I was the queen of hanging pre-pasted paper. The instructions are easy to follow and my husband helped me to position it right on the walls. Having two people hanging wall paper really helps the process!
The tile is from Zia Tile from the Cement Tile collection. The design is Victory White + Black. We had a small amount leftover that we ended up using for our basement backsplash. I absolutely love how the tile and wallpaper design turned out together.
