Recently, we hosted friends at our house for brunch. I LOVE brunch. I am a basic millennial when it comes to most things in life, brunch being no exception. I started to search how to make a mimosa bar, and ultimately, I decided that I needed fabulous mimosa ice cubes.
I had to set out to find the perfect silicon ice cub tray to make my ice cubes. I have found several trays for you that would would well to make fruit-infused ice. You can really find ice cube trays in all shapes and sizes. Below, you will see trays to make watermelon cubes, pineapples, squares, emoji ice cubes, engagement rings, shark fins, fish, cacti, and citrus wedges. So many options!
I went with a geometrical tray that I found recently while shopping in the sale section at my local Nordstrom. I ended up making two batches of ice cubes. The first batch was made with cranberry juice. I chose cranberry so that the ice cubes would have some contrast against the orange juice-based mimosa.
I filled up each cube 1/2 way with cranberry juice, and then added the citrus, berries, and basil herb. I carefully transported the tray to the freezer, and then waited a few hours until the cubes were frozen. I then popped them out, and repeated this step three times. I ended up making one tray using orange juice as the ice cube base as well.
When gathering the things you will need for your mimosa bar, keep this list in mind:
-Glass picture for holding orange juice
-Orange juice
-Champaign of your choice
-Glasses for your mimosas
-Citrus Berry Infused Ice
-Bowl for your ice, with tongs
You can make the ice cubes in many different ways. Try herbs such as rosemary or mint. Experiment with different juice bases to make the cubes. You can make a variety of cubes that will uniquely appealing to each of your guests. Happy brunching!
